Pundit Stephen A. Smith again raised the possibility of a presidential run as a Democrat, blasting the party in the process and saying it has no obvious candidate to take on Republicans in the next election.
“I’m not in the news because I’m here,” Smith said during an episode of his podcast and video show. “I’m in the news because the Democratic Party is here,” he screamed pointing downward.
“Dammit, lower than that! Down to the bottom,” Smith continued. “They suck right now! Horrible! Because they don’t have a voice! Where the hell is the voice?”
Smith’s comments were first highlighted by Mediaite.
The host listed off a number of leading Democrats including Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and others he said have not proven they are equipped to defeat Republicans in future national elections.
The sports media personality has in recent months branched into political commentary and appeared more frequently on cable news channels, often debating top hosts and other newsmakers.
He earlier this month hinted at a presidential run, though he said he lives “a pretty good life, and I don’t want to ruin it by getting involved in politics.”
