A 23-year-old man in San Bernardino County was arrested for the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and investigators believe there may be additional victims of the suspect.
An investigation into the distribution and possession of CSAM launched in Oct. 2024 by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau in Victorville led investigators to identify Victorville resident Matthew Marcus Alvarez as a suspect in the case.
On Feb. 12, detectives served a search warrant at the 23-year-old’s home and arrested him for distribution and possession of CSAM, according to a SBSD news release.

“During the investigation, detectives collected evidence and learned Alvarez contacted several subjects through multiple messaging applications, leading them to believe there may be additional victims.”
Investigators released the 23-year-old’s booking photo to aid in the investigation and identify any additional victims.
Alvarez was booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for possession of CSAM. It is unclear if he has been released on bond or remains in custody.
