A man was fatally shot and another was wounded in Long Beach Sunday afternoon.
The shooting in the 1700 block of Long Beach Boulevard was reported at about 4:30 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.
“Upon arrival, officers located a crime scene and evidence that a shooting occurred,” the release explained. “Shortly after arriving on scene, officers were notified that two male adult victims with gunshot wounds had been dropped off at a local hospital.”
Those two men had come from the Long Beach Boulevard shooting, officers determined, though one of them, 32-year-old Edgar Ortiz-Escamilla of Long Beach, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. The other, whose identity has not been released, is in stable condition, police said.
Police believe the incident is gang-related, but the motive and details remain under investigation.
