LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A 35-year-old man is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism in connection with an alleged drunken rampage at a bar in San Bernardino County, officials announced.

The Feb. 9 incident unfolded at a Pinon Hills establishment called Big Rock Bar just before 7:30 p.m., a news release from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department stated.

Deputies responded to the bar, located at 1828 State Highway 138, after receiving a 911 call that an alleged intoxicated man was being violent after being told to leave the premises.

Investigators say the suspect, later identified as Pinon Hills resident Troy Hettinga, reportedly broke two of the buildings windows with his fists after threatening Big Rock Bar employees and patrons.

“One patron was injured when she tripped running away from him as he threw rocks at her,” authorities said. “She received medical treatment for her injuries at a local hospital.”

The 35-year-old, the release noted, was holding a bloody rock when deputies arrived. He then advanced on law enforcement and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

“Hettinga cut his hands while breaking the windows and required medical attention,” authorities said. “While at the hospital, he threatened the safety of medical staff.”

He was arrested, booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism and was being held on $50,000 bail.

Anyone with information about the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Deputy J. Ballinger at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the We Tip Hotline at 800-78CRIME or leave tips online at www.wetip.com
