FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — As people across the DMV prepare to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) offered tips on how to keep its community safe.
Whether you’re watching from home, a local bar or a party, keep some of the following in mind:
- Plan ahead: Arrange transportation in advance. Use rideshare services, public transportation or designate a sober driver if alcohol is involved.
- Stay aware: Keep an eye on your surroundings, especially in crowded areas.
- Celebrate responsibly: Pace yourself, stay hydrated and ensure everyone has a safe way home.
- Don’t drink and drive: If you’ve been drinking, never drive.
- Secure your home: If you’re heading out to watch the big game, lock up and consider using outdoor lighting or a security system for extra protection.
FCPD noted its officers and traffic division would be conducting increased enforcement throughout the county this weekend, focusing on impaired driving and unsafe behavior.
