Some gamers are helping with Los Angeles wildfire recovery efforts without leaving their couches.
“Call of Duty” released a downloadable content pack called the “L.A. Fire Relief Pack” in their “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Call of Duty: Warzone” which contained seven items that can be equipped to the player’s character, weapon or profile.
Purchases of the DLC pack, which costs 2,400 COD points (worth $19.99), have raised more than $1.6 million for fire recovery efforts, “Call of Duty” said on X Tuesday. All proceeds are going to the Los Angeles Fire Department and Direct Relief.
Activision, the company that makes the “Call of Duty” games, also contributed $1 million in a separate donation to the same agencies.
“As a company with roots deeply tied to the L.A. area, our hearts go out to our friends, colleagues and residents impacted by the devastating fires,” Activision said on Jan. 18.
