One of Hollywood’s most popular rooftop bars and hotels closed without warning over the weekend.
Mama Shelter Los Angeles closed on Sunday, operators announced Monday on Instagram.
The Mama Shelter brand was born in Paris in 2008, but the Hollywood location opened in 2015.
Eater reports that a statement posted online confirms that “from Feb. 2nd, 2025, Mama Shelter Los Angeles Hollywood will no longer operate as a Mama Shelter branded property.”
It’s unclear if that implies the hotel, restaurant or bar will continue to operate under different ownership or a different name.
In the meantime, Mama Shelter L.A. offered its thanks to Southern Californians.
“Thank you to our guests and thank you to our team for an amazing decade together,” the Instagram post reads. “We are grateful for all the laughs, memories, and rooftop dance parties! Mama ❤️ Los Angeles.”
