FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said a Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) substitute teacher was charged after assaulting a student on Sept. 25, 2024.
FCPD said that Child Protective Services (CPS) received information that a substitute teacher had assaulted a student at Dogwood Elementary School. The student was reported to have had minor injuries.
Police said an investigation determined that Rakshanda Jaiban, 44, of Sterling, assaulted the student during school hours. On Jan. 31, she turned herself in and was served a summons releasable charge for Simple Assault.
Jaiban had been employed with FCPS as a substitute teacher since 2019 and has since been discharged from her role upon the allegation.
