LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Southern California is set for a slightly warmer weekend ahead of a storm system that could shower the region with light rain, according to KTLA weather anchor Kaj Goldberg.
The Los Angeles area will see daytime highs in the low 70s in the San Fernando Valley and upper 60s in the San Gabriel Valley.
The warmer temperatures are due to an offshore flow that began today and will continue through the weekend.
“It’s going to be a beautiful weekend here in Southern California,” Goldberg said. “We can expect dry conditions and above-normal temperatures.”
There is an air quality alert in effect through Saturday night due to haze in the atmosphere. Residents are advised not to burn wood in fireplaces if they live below 3,000 feet.
The extended forecast includes a chance of light rainfall as we move towards the middle of next week.
“We might see some light rain starting Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning,” Goldberg noted. “This rain event doesn’t look like it will bring much measurable precipitation, but it’s something to keep an eye on.”
The extended forecast also shows temperatures continuing to stay in the 60s for the next seven days, with a slight chance of light showers along the beaches and mountain communities remaining dry through Tuesday.
