A multiagency investigation led to the arrest of four Chilean nationals believed to be responsible for a string of residential burglaries across Southern California.
Detectives from the Glendale and Beverly Hills police departments executed search warrants on Jan. 16, as part of an ongoing investigation into multiple burglaries in Glendale, Beverly Hills, San Marino and Los Angeles.
Glendale police officers arrested Matias Jesus Soto-Barraza, 22, at his home in Los Angeles.
At the same time, Beverly Hills police took Joaquin Vergara-Contreras, 29; Elias Moncada Reyes, 30; and Juan Antonio Silva Loaeza, 43, into custody.
The four are all described as Chilean nationals who are part of the same burglary crew responsible for several crimes throughout the area.
During the searches, authorities recovered stolen property, including firearms, jewelry and designer clothes and shoes. They also seized cell phones and signal jammers, which are often used to disable home security systems, police said.
In a news release issued by the Glendale Police Department Wednesday, officials said the arrests are part of an ongoing effort to dismantle organized burglary crews operating in the region, adding that detectives would be working with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on potential charges as the investigation continues.
