FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said it arrested a man in connection to a string of thefts from gyms in the Huntington, Hybla Valley and Springfield areas.
Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 16, 2024, FCPD received seven reports of thefts from commercial gyms. Victims reported their lockers were forced open and had personal property taken.
Victim’s credit cards were also used at nearby locations following the thefts.
The police department said detectives linked 49-year-old Robert Brockington of Springfield to the incidents.
The following locations were targeted, officials said:
- Dec. 1, 2024: A gym in the 7700 block of Richmond Highway, Hybla Valley.
- Dec. 1, 2024: A gym in the 5900 block of Richmond Highway, Huntington, was hit three times.
- Dec. 12, 2024: A gym in the 6100 block of Backlick Road, Springfield.
- Dec. 16, 2024: A gym in the 8400 block of Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, was hit twice.
Brockington was charged with Credit Card Theft, ID Fraud, Petit Larceny and Misdemeanor Destruction of Property.
He was arrested by police in D.C. on Jan. 21, where he awaits extradition to Fairfax County.
