Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta needled President Trump after the president mocked the journalist over his departure from the network this week.
“Looks like somebody has ADS: Acosta Derangement Syndrome,” quipped the anchor in a social media post on Tuesday in reference to a separate post by Trump celebrating his exit from the cable channel.
“Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website minutes before Acosta announced live on air he would leave the network.
Acosta, CNN’s former chief White House Correspondent, said he made the decision to leave the network after being offered an alternative, less desirable time slot.
His departure comes amid a slew of programming changes at CNN, including a move that saw Acosta’s show replaced by a newscast anchored by Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown.
Acosta later on Tuesday announced he was starting a new media venture on the platform Substack writing “to President Trump and his allies, you may think you have silenced me … But guess again. ‘The Jim Acosta Show’ is coming soon.”
