A man is being held on $1 million bail after he was arrested for stabbing a man several times aboard a bus in Adelanto, officials announced Tuesday.
Officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said that the suspect fought with a fellow passenger on the Victor Valley Transit Authority bus when the stabbing occurred on Jan. 26.
VVTA reported the fight around 1:17 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 395 and Palmdale Road.
Two deputies with the Sheriff’s Victor Valley Transit Detail responded to the scene and, through their investigation, identified the suspect as 27-year-old Randy Angel Serpa III, a resident of Adelanto.
Officials said the victim, who was not immediately publicly identified, suffered several stab wounds on his head and torso and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Serpa was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder, according to SBSD.
“This was an isolated incident which occurred on board a VVTA bus, no other bus passengers or VVTA employees were involved or injured during this incident,” added the department.
