ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — The Alexandria Police Department (APD) announced Monday that three teenagers are facing charges in connection to a triple shooting that left a man dead in September 2024.
During a press conference on Jan. 27, the police department announced that the three teens, ages 16 and 17, were each charged with Murder by Mob, two counts of Malicious Wounding by Mob, and three counts of Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
They are all being held without bond within other jurisdictions.
“Our officers, detectives, and investigators bring closure to our community today by bringing charges to the suspects in this homicide,” said Chief Tarrick McGuire, during the press conference.
These charges stemmed from the shooting that happened in the Old Town area on Sept. 19. Police said that at around 8:14 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of Wythe St. for reports of shots fired.
Once on the scene, officers found three people had been shot, including 25-year-old Kwakia Frazier, who died.
Alexandria police learned that a 46-year-old man was standing outside his apartment when he was shot and a 15-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet.
APD said while collecting evidence at the scene, detectives recovered shell casings and multiple stolen guns.
“There is no place for gun violence in our community. What’s most concerning about this, is that today I stand in front of our community to say that we have charged three juveniles with gun violence, it’s not a proud moment. I’m asking everyone to ensure we are taking steps to prevent gun violence and to safely store your guns and not leave them inside your vehicle where they can easily be stolen,” said McGuire.
