Billy Ray Cyrus is thinking about his loved ones amid the family’s strife.
After his son Trace Cyrus publicly begged him to seek help, the country star took to his YouTube channel to share a snippet of his 2009 “Somebody Said a Prayer” music video, which features a younger Trace.
“Sunday callin. Giving thanks for the California Rain,” Billy Ray, 63, wrote in the description, referencing the precipitation Los Angeles received over the weekend amid the ongoing wildfires.
“Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters…and their mother,” the patriarch continued, referring to his children — Trace, 35, Brandi Cyrus, 37, Chris Cody Cyrus, 32, Miley Cyrus, 32, Braison Cyrus, 30, and Noah Cyrus, 25 — as well as his ex-wife Tish Cyrus, 57.
“Let this moment be the start of healing ❤️🩹 for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen 🙏🏼,” Billy Ray concluded.
Last week, the disheveled-looking “Achy Breaky Heart” singer stumbled through an “embarrassing” performance at President Trump’s post-inauguration Liberty Ball, which he later blamed on faulty equipment.
Trace, who is sober, then penned a lengthy open letter revealing that he and other relatives are “genuinely worried” about Billy Ray.
With “tears in [his] eyes,” the Metro Station guitarist wrote in part, “You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. … I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad.”
Trace then disclosed he is “over a year and half clean from alcohol” and added, “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.”
Insiders previously told Page Six that Trace and his siblings — minus Braison, who insists Billy Ray is “happy” and “healthy” — discussed his Instagram post before he shared it and that they had “signed off” on it because they “all agree” with its sentiments.
However, one source denied this, going so far as to claim that the family is “pissed” at Trace because Billy Ray is “sober.” This source also claimed the Grammy winner is “in a really good place” with the rest of his kids.
According to Trace, though, Braison only believes their dad is doing well because “birds of a feather flock together.”
Trace returned to Instagram on Saturday to allege that Billy Ray had “threatened [him] with legal action,” calling the move a “disgrace.”
“Dad my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don’t want to put your business out there like that,” the fellow musician stated.
Trace went even further, telling the “Old Town Road” crooner that “Pappy” (who is presumably Billy Ray’s father) is “looking down” on him with “such disappointment.”
He concluded his message, “You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”
Braison, for his part, told People he doesn’t “have any bad feelings toward anyone in [his] family.”
