KIRKLAND, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Police in New York asked for the public’s help finding a missing man who may be in Maryland.
The Kirkland Police Department (KPD) said it has been searching for 21-year-old Daniel Martinelli, who last was seen leaving his home in Clarks Mills in October 2024.
KPD said Martinelli had a disagreement with his mother who would not allow a female acquaintance to stay in the home.
Martinelli’s mother, who had not heard from him since October, recently called police.
Officers said they believe Martinelli may be in the area of La Vale, Md., which is in Allegany County, approximately seven miles east of Frostburg, Md. They added that he might be in a white Chevrolet Impala with New York State license plate number KCE-8145. The female acquaintance, “Kim,” may be traveling with him.
Martinelli’s family said the 21-year-old, who has autism, is high-functioning, independent, and capable of making his own decisions. According to Kirkland police, there is no indication that Martinelli is in immediate danger. His family is concerned about his well-being.
Police said they think Martinelli may be avoiding contact intentionally due to the situation at home. They only want to sure ensure he is safe, adding they do not intend to interfere with his independence.
If you have any information on Martinelli’s whereabouts or have seen him or his car, you are encouraged to contact the Kirkland Police Department at 315-853-3311.
