MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Medics took one person to the hospital after a FedEx truck caught fire on Interstate 270 in the Bethesda area on Saturday night.
In a post on the X platform just after 7:40 p.m., Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said crews were responding to a crash involving a delivery truck on the southbound I-270 Spur between the I-270 split and Democracy Boulevard.
There, responders found that the delivery truck (a FedEx vehicle) had caught fire after it was involved in a crash with another car.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, and medics evaluated one person for serious injuries before taking them to the hospital, according to Piringer. As of Saturday night, there is no word on their condition.
In an update just before 8:25 p.m., Piringer noted that some lanes in the north and southbound areas of the I-270 Spur under Westlake Terrace were blocked. Drivers can expect delays in the area.
