WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it charged a teenager for his involvement in eight robberies that happened in December and January throughout Northwest D.C.
Just after 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 24, MPD said the 17-year-old suspect approached someone in the 2000 block of Vermont Avenue NW. He motioned as if he had a weapon and demanded the victim’s money.
The suspect took the person’s phone and used an app to wire himself money before fleeing the scene.
He was caught by responding officers, who said they took a handgun from him.
Detectives said he was also charged with the following offenses:
- Armed Robbery (Gun): On Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at approximately 2:35 p.m., in the 1700 block of Park Road, NW;
- Armed Robbery (Gun): On Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at approximately 7:54 p.m., in the 1300 block of Park Road, NW;
- Armed Robbery (Gun): On Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., in the 3300 block of 17th Street, NW.
- Armed Robbery (Gun): On Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at approximately 4:56 p.m., in the 3300 block of 14th Street, NW.
- Assault With A Dangerous Weapon: On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at approximately 8:36 p.m., in the 3100 block of Hiatt Place, NW.
- Robbery (Fear): On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at approximately 10:09 p.m., in the 1600 block of Irving Street, NW.
- Armed Robbery (Gun): On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., in the 1300 block of Harvard Street, NW.
For the incident on Jan. 24, he was charged with armed robbery, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of unregistered firearm and other related charges.
