ASHBURN, Va. (DC News Now) — The Washington Commanders finished their final practice of the week at their team facilities Friday, as the team will now travel to Philadelphia Saturday for their NFC Championship showdown with the Eagles on Sunday.
The team has been building towards Sunday’s game all week, and the players, along with head coach Dan Quinn, believe they saved the best practice for last.
“I was really pleased to see today’s practice,” said Quinn. “This was the best Friday we’ve had this season. The speed, the energy, the execution. That’s what you want.”
“It just feels like we are hitting our stride,” said offensive tackle Andrew Wylie. “We were flying around with a lot of urgency today.”
“I think everybody is on an elite level of focus and urgency and understanding what’s at stake here,” said long snapper Tyler Ott. “Everybody is playing for each other and practicing for each other.”
Not only will it be the first time in over 30 years that the Commanders would make the Super Bowl, but it would also be the first time a rookie quarterback has led his team to the big game in NFL History. A big task for Jayden Daniels, but no matter how big the spotlight is, the QB is always cool, calm and collected.
“For me, football is fun,” said Daniels after practice on Wednesday. “It’s like a safe haven for me. I’m not really going out there and stressing about the moment because at the end of the day, I get to do what I love.”
After practice Friday, DC News Now sports reporter Alex Flum asked what 5-year-old Jayden Daniels would think if he could see himself sitting at the podium and getting ready for the NFC title game. His response is exactly what you would expect.
“I don’t think he would be thinking anything,” said Daniels. “He’d just be locked in to the game on Sunday.”
It’s less than two days away. he Washington Commanders will face the Philadelphia Eagles on the road on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
