RIVERDALE, Md. (DC News Now) — In Prince George’s County the snow and ice cleanup continues.
In many parts of the count,y crews are still working to clear away snow and ice.
Riverdale Maryland resident Saul Mettle said he is frustrated that it is taking the county so long to clear the roads from snow and treat the icy roads.
“I think it’s a little disappointing. I am new to this area and it doesn’t seem that bad compared to other places I’ve seen but I think they could do a lot better clearing the roads and we hope to see that real soon,” Mettle said.
More than six inches of snow was dumped in Prince George’s County when the snowstorm hit Monday.
County Council Chair Jolene Ivey said public works crews are doing the best they can.
“I know it is frustrating to anyone living in an area that has not seen a plow. And we have 2,000 miles of roads that public works has to clear and that’s a lot and they have been putting down a lot of salt. We have a plan to do primary then secondary roads that’s so emergency crews can get through,” Ivey said.
Ivey told DC News Now that there are more than 200 trucks and more than 500 people working to clear the roads.
Crews are working 12-hour shifts to clear the roads.
