(NewsNation) — A Pacific Palisades resident says their community has “lost” so much as wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.
Pacific Palisades community council member Sue Kohl told NewsNation that embers from the massive wildfires blew over their entire town igniting much of the area.
“We’ve lost our churches, schools, pharmacies, restaurants, both supermarkets. hundreds and hundreds of homes,” she said.
“Those of us who live down below and what was always considered the safer areas, the place you not in the hills, these embers because of the winds blew out of those hills and went over the entire town.”
Multiple wildfires are ripping through parts of Los Angeles County, all at 0% containment as of Wednesday morning.
Two people were reported dead in the Eaton Fire, which is in the Angeles National Forest and Altadena area of Los Angeles County and Pasadena, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone said.
Officials have said more than 80,000 people are under evacuation orders because of all the fires.
Kohl said she and many of the residents evacuated Tuesday, but the town still needs more firefighters to help battle the massive blaze.
“We don’t have enough LAPD firemen and frankly with the winds the way they are, I mean, I don’t know what enough would look like because they’re fighting an impossible battle,” Kohl said.
