Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood confirmed he quietly married his longtime partner Mette-Marie Kongsved.
While appearing on the latest episode of the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, the actor, 43, referred to the film producer, 33, as his ‘wife’ as he gushed about feeling ‘beyond grateful’ for his spouse as well as his ‘family and kids.’
The remarks come after sources recently told TMZ that the couple ‘got married in Sweden on New Year’s Eve in what was described as an intimate ceremony with about 80 friends and family members.’
The pair, who have been romantically linked since 2018, share a son born in 2019 and a daughter born in 2022.
Wood is believed to have originally met Kongsved back in April 2016 on the set of Netflix‘s Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which she produced and he starred in.
Mette-Marie also produced Wood’s films Mandy (2018), Come to Daddy (2019), and the upcoming adventure movie Bookworm directed by Ant Timpson.

In 2023, Wood opened up about the birth of their second child and the early mornings that come along with parenthood.
‘I like getting up early, I like starting the day,’ he told WSJ. Magazine in 2023, after noting he gets up between 5:30 and 6:30 every morning.
The Iowa-born actor also told the outlet that he loves taking an active role as a father from sleep training to packing school lunches for his little ones.
And while Wood has amassed millions of followers on Twitter/Facebook, he revealed he secretly has a private Instagram account.
‘I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,’ Wood explained.
‘An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share. It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person.’
