WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — In preparation for the 60th Presidential Inauguration, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) said crews are working to complete its sidewalk repair project in Washington, D.C.
The project starts on Dec. 26 and during the two-week construction period, drivers can expect delays in the Northwest area.
Officials said the project will focus on sidewalks on Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue NW. This includes the following streets:
- Pennsylvania Avenue NW from 14th Street NW to 15th Street NW
- Pennsylvania Avenue NW from Constitution Avenue NW to 6th Street NW
- Pennsylvania Avenue from 9th Street NW to 10th Street NW
Crews will work on repairs Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and some Saturdays. DDOT said during the construction window, adjacent curbside parking may be restricted and signs will be posted at least 72 hours in advance.
Temporary lane closures will also be in place with one travel lane will remain open during construction.
DDOT said flaggers will be on-site to manage traffic, but drivers should stay alert when traveling near the work zone. Drivers and cyclists should also be prepared for possible detours.
The sidewalk project is expected to be finished by Jan. 10, 2025.
