The 30th Major League Soccer season will kick off the weekend of Feb. 22-23.
The Galaxy will begin its defense of the MLS Cup at home Feb. 23 against league newcomer San Diego FC.
LAFC will open the regular season Feb. 22 at home against Minnesota United.
The league released the complete 2025 schedule Thursday. To commemorate its 30th year, the league will celebrate its first MLS match (D.C. United visiting San Jose on April. 6) and its first MLS Cup (D.C. United visiting the Galaxy on July 12).
With the arrival of San Diego FC, MLS now has 30 teams, which will alter the league schedule. Each team will still play 34 regular-season games (17 home, 17 away). Teams will play conference opponents twice (home and away) and each team will play six “different cross-conference” opponents.
That means there are only two El Trafico meetings next year between the Galaxy and LAFC. The first is May 18 at Dignity Health Sports Park and the second is July 19 at BMO Stadium.
The Galaxy, who will also play in CONCACAF Champions Cup, will have a busy start. In March, the Galaxy has six games, including the first (March 5) and second (March 12) legs of its Champions Cup Round of 16 series against either Real Salt Lake or CS Herediano.
LAFC opens CONCACAF Champions Cup first-round play Feb. 18 against the Colorado Rapids. The second leg is Feb. 25.
The Galaxy will travel to face its recent MLS Cup opponent, the New York Red Bulls, on May 10, its first trip to face NYRB since 2019. It will also hit the road to take on Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on Aug. 16.
After playing the last two July 4 matches at the Rose Bowl, the Galaxy will host Vancouver on the Fourth of July at Dignity Health Sports Park this season.
LAFC will face travel to face San Diego FC on March 29 and host the expansion club Aug. 31. LAFC will be making its first trips to CF Montreal (May 24) and New England (Aug. 16) since 2019.
The league will pause June 15-24 during the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be played across the United States. Also, the Leagues Cup tournament, between MLS and Liga MX clubs, will be played July 29-Aug. 31, but unlike the previous two seasons, the leagues will not stop their regular schedules.
The annual MLS All-Star Game will be played July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. An opponent will be announced at a later date.
