S-3 Group is launching a new tax practice as Republicans in Congress push to move a major tax cut package within the first 100 days of President Trump’s new term. Marty Reiser, Shimmy Stein, Malloy McDaniel and Kevin Casey will lead the tax practice.
Reiser is the former policy director for House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), Stein was a senior policy adviser to former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and McDaniel is a former policy adviser to longtime Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky). Casey was previously a policy director for former Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), working on tax and financial service issues during his time on the House Financial Services and Ways and Means Committees.
Invariant has added Teddy Tanzer as a senior director. He was most recently senior counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data and Commerce. He was previously a professional staff member and law clerk for the Republican staff of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and a legal fellow for Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.).
Shawn Maree Bishop has joined Akin as a senior advisor in the lobbying & public policy practice in Washington, D.C. Bishop was most recently chief health adviser for the Senate Finance Committee under Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and was previously a professional staffer under former Chair Max Baucus (D-Mont.)
Narrative Strategies has promoted Devin O’Malley to partner. O’Malley was previously press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence and held senior communications roles during the first Trump administration, including as principal deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Treasury Department. He also worked as a senior strategist on Virginia Gov. Glenn Younkin’s gubernatorial campaign and is a Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) alum.
