JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon won’t join President-elect Trump’s administration and will remain leading the bank.
“I respect Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, greatly, but he will not be invited to be a part of the Trump Administration. I thank Jamie for his outstanding service to our Country!” Trump posted to his Truth Social site.
It was expected that Dimon would stay with JPMorgan Chase. He told CBS MoneyWatch after the election that he would not be joining the Trump administration after speculation mounted he would try to be appointed Treasury secretary.
“I intend to be doing what I do. And I almost guarantee I’ll be doing this for a long period of time. Or at least until the board kicks me out,” Dimon told CBS.
As Trump is assembling his Cabinet and senior officials, Dimon thinks he will best serve the country by staying in his current position, a close source told the outlet.
He did not endorse Trump or Vice President Harris in the race, though the president-elect said he knew “nothing” about a post on his account that falsely claimed Dimon endorsed him.
Trump’s choices for his second administration have sent shockwaves through Capitol Hill and beyond after choosing former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) as Attorney General and Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth as the secretary for the Defense Department.
More announcements will be made in the coming days, including who Trump chooses to lead the Treasury.
The Hill has reached out to JPMorgan Chase for comment.
