PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Police are investigating after two men tried to rob an armored Brink’s truck in Hyattsville on Tuesday.
According to the Hyattsville Police Department (HPD), on Nov. 12, two armed people attempted to rob the truck in the 5500 block of Baltimore Ave.
During the incident, police said the driver, who was armed, fired his gun and the two suspects drove away in a minivan.
Currently, it is not clear if the suspects were hit.
The truck driver was not hurt during the incident and was in the area to service the Bank of America ATM.
Fatima Martinez, who works at a restaurant nearby, told DC News Now that this is the second time something like this has happened and there have been concerns about the recent crime in the community.
“This has been happening for quite a while. Even here, the restaurant got shot and the windows got broken,” said Martinez.
She said the crime has impacted business and people are afraid to come in.
