WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — With just days away from Election Day, some political experts weighed in on new polls tying the presidential candidates in several battlegrounds and one Iowa Poll showed Vice President Kamala Harris ahead in Iowa.
So what’s left for the presidential candidates to do to get voters to the poll?
“Is there anything both Kalama Harris and Donald Trump can do in these last two days to get to that 270 electoral Vote?” asked Tosin Fakile with DC News Now.
“Get out the vote. This is not a matter of convincing voters at this point to go one way or another. This now a matter of who can bring out of their supporters; people to actually go out and vote,” said David Ramadan, Professor at George Mason University and former Virginia House Delegate.
Both Trump and Harris have spent a lot of time in battleground states but will it make a difference on Tuesday? Ramadan said he thinks it will.
“Regardless of all that effort and millions of dollars spent in these states, the New York Times, Sienna College Poll which is probably the latest we will see for this election just came out today [Sunday, Nov. 3] had Pennsylvania tied at 48, 48. Michigan tied at 47,47,” said Ramadan. “But Here’s the good news for Kamala Harris 49 to 46 in Nevada, 48 to 46 in North Carolina, 49 to 47 in Wisconsin, 48 to 47 in Georgia.”
Ramadan also weighed in on the Des Moines Register Poll that showed Harris with a small lead over Trump just three days before the election.
“Here is where the unknown one is. There was a big outlier one yesterday [Saturday, Nov. 2] the Des Moines Register Poll that came out yesterday in Iowa. Who thought that we’d be talking about Iowa two days, three days before the election season. That is an Ann Selzer poll, a very respected pollster which 99% of the time is correct,” said Ramadan. “She had Kamala Harris up by three points against Donald Trump in Iowa, which is unexpected,” he added.
Ramadan went on to say that the Iowa Poll could be revealing something about other battleground states
“But regardless of if she is up against Donald Trump or even if she is a couple of points behind in Iowa, that still shows a surge in that area of the country which is going to make a difference in this election. And that means the numbers that are in Michigan and Pennsylvania, in that belt are probably higher than what we’re seeing,” explained Ramadan.
