BATON ROUGE, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry announced Wednesday that 2024 will be a record-breaking year for in-person early voting.
“I’m pleased that so many Louisianans have already made their voices heard in this election,” Sec. Landry said. “Those who did not take advantage of early voting can still vote on Election Day, Nov. 5, between 6 a.m.- 8 p.m.”
According to the secretary, 960,561 Louisiana voters cast ballots early, including absentee ballots received during early voting. Between October 18 and 29, 849,784 voters cast early in-person ballots, compared to 817,957 who did so in 2020.
Louisiana voters also broke the single-day in-person record on the final day of early voting, with 103,456 Louisianans voting on Tuesday, October 29. The previous record was 99,004 final-day early voting in 2020.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, November 1. The deadline to return your absentee ballot is Monday, November 4, by 4:30 p.m.
