WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – It’s the final week of campaigning ahead of the election and the presidential candidates are keeping their feet on the gas.
Both candidates are cramming their schedules full of campaign events and especially focusing on battleground states.
In a race this tight, the candidates are fighting for every vote and today President Joe Biden cast his ballot.
“This election is so important,” said Biden.
Election Day is next week and both presidential candidates are pushing their supporters to the polls.
“We must not wake up the day after the election and have any regrets about what we could have done,” said Vice President Kamala Harris.
While Vice President Kamala Harris rallied voters in Philadelphia over the weekend former president Donald Trump held a campaign event in his home state of New York.
With your vote in this election, you could show them once and for all that this nation does not belong to them. This nation belongs to you,” said Trump.
Some of the speakers at the Trump rally drew criticism for controversial remarks, especially a comedian who called Puerto Rico an island of garbage.
Harris says last night’s rally is typical of her opponent and his team.
“Donald Trump spends full time trying to have Americans point fingers at each other – fans the fuel of hate and division and that’s why people are exhausted with him,” said Harris.
The Trump campaign is distancing themselves from the comedian’s comments.
“Tt was a joke that was done in poor taste and obviously, the joke by this comedian does not reflect the views of President Trump or our campaign,” said Trump campaign spokesperson Caroline Leavitt.
VP Harris is scheduled to hold a rally in Michigan Monday night and former President Trump will be rallying in Georgia.
