BRITS are braced for some harsh weather conditions today as the Met Office issues a warning for gales.
It comes after Storm Ashley gave the UK a battering, causing rivers to burst their banks and paths to collapse.
Scotland is likely to see the worst of the weather as it is predicted to be hit with coastal gales overnight in north-western parts.
Across England and Wales though low cloud and fog will lift to leave many parts dry with bright or sunny spells.
Temperatures are likely to hit a high of between 16-17C across the south-east.
Although there is the possibility of one or two showers developing.
Overnight, it will be a mostly dry night with clear spells.
But cloudy conditions are likely to develop in the north and west, which will bring patch rain.
It will mostly be mild but increasingly windy and gales are expected to develop in the far northwest.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “We will start to see those winds strengthening once again.
“There is even a chance we could see some coastal gales in exposed spots.”
Central and eastern areas will remain dry with bright or sunny spells as we move into Thursday.
While in the north and west it will be cloudier with strong winds and patchy rain.
Far western parts will see some heavy rain as the day progresses.
Ms Criswick added: “We do have this next frontal system moving in [from the west] so we do have some outbreaks of rain.
