FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Two Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers rescued a woman from her car which had submerged in a retention pond in Fairfax County Sunday night.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 20, two troopers responded to exit 60 on Route 123 after a 40-year-old woman had driven off the road into a retention pond off of eastbound Interstate-66.
She had gotten trapped in her car as it became submerged.
The two troopers jumped into the retention pond and were able to rescue her by getting her out through the car’s sunroof.
The woman was taken to the hospital to get checked out and the two troopers were evaluated due to the cold weather.
VSP said the crash is still being investigated.
