WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Colombian singer Shakira just released the new date for her performance in Washington, D.C. and said it will be the welcome concert for WorldPride 2025.
“We can’t wait to welcome the world to Washington, DC for WorldPride 2025,” said DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. “There’s a lot to look forward to and lot to be excited about — and a kickoff concert with Shakira is one more fantastic reason to plan your trip to DC for World Pride.”
Shakira posted on her Instagram story on Friday that she canceled her two concert performances at Capital One Arena in D.C. scheduled for Nov. 24 and 25 due to “the demand for tickets and more shows.”
Shakira said she would shift the dates of the D.C. stop and others in North America to May 2025, adding, “I know many of you made big efforts to be a part of these shows. Thank you so much for supporting me through this. Your understanding and love mean the world to me and help me continue breaking barriers. I’ll be waiting for all of you with great anticipation. I promise to make it worth the wait and deliver the best show of my life.”
Her new concert is scheduled for May 31 at Nationals Park.
Capital One Arena sits about 20,000 people and the Nationals Park has a capacity of 41,546.
