A person was transported to a local trauma center after a rock slide landed on and crushed a van in San Bernardino County on Friday morning.
The county’s fire department confirmed the incident in a post to X, formerly Twitter, just before 9 a.m. The rock slide took place at mile marker 19 on Highway 18, which is located near Arrowhead Heights.
One person was extricated and transported by ambulance to a trauma center. Their condition was not immediately made available.
Photos from the scene showed the front end of a van completely crushed by the apparent slide, with a large boulder appearing to land directly on the vehicle.
Delays are expected on the highway as crews work to clean the scene. No additional details were immediately made available.
