WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – As Election Day draws closer the candidates are making appeals to key voting groups.
Former president Donald trump is making stops in Illinois and Georgia Tuesday while Vice President Harris is in Michigan.
Both the Trump campaign and the Harris campaign are pushing economic messages as they try to win votes.
The candidates are getting into a groove out on the campaign trail, on Monday night a Trump town hall in Pennsylvania turned into a dance party,
Trump then traveled to Chicago for a Bloomberg event on the economy.
“To me, the most beautiful word in the dictionary is “tariff,” said Trump.
He discussed his plans to put tariffs on imports with the goal of boosting American manufacturing.
“We’re going to bring the companies back, we’re going to lower taxes for companies that are going to make their products in the USA,” said Trump.
The Harris campaign is countering with their own economic policies.
Vice presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.) made the case to rural communities in Pennsylvania and both candidates are zeroing in on crucial voter blocs.
Trump is taping a town hall with Fox News focused on women’s issues, while Vice President Kamala Harris is sitting down with radio host Charlamagne tha God for an interview emphasizing Black voters.
“We are running like the underdog. We have some hard work ahead of us,” said Harris.
The VP is trying to convince voters to turn out with a warning about her rival.
“A second Trump term would be a huge risk for America and dangerous,” Harris said.
First Lady Jill Biden is also out on the campaign trail on behalf of Harris. She’s rallying voters in her hometown of Philadelphia.
