Eight suspected illegal immigrants are under arrest and charged with looting in an area of eastern Tennessee that was hard hit by Hurricane Helene. The alleged illegal immigrants had their first court appearance on Monday with five being charged with aggravated burglary.
Washington County police say the five men broke into homes where the occupants were still at home and robbed them. They have been identified as Albin Nahun Vega-Rapalo, 24; David Bairon Rapalo-Rapalo, 37; Kevin Noe Martinez-Lopez, 25; Marvin Hernandez-Martinez, 43; and Dayln Gabriel Guillen Guillen, 37, the National Pulse reported.
The other three were charged with burglary after allegedly looting unoccupied buildings. The three are identified as Jesus Leodan Garcia-Peneda, 51; Josue Berardo Ortis-Valdez, 30; and Ersy Leonel Ortis-Valdez, 33.
The Biden-Harris administration has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the US. Of all the illegal immigrants in the US, at least 13,000 are convicted murderers and around 435,000 have criminal records.
Hurricane Helene left a path of death and destruction in its movement across six states, killing at least 137 people. There are hundreds of people missing: some may have perished in the storm but many more could just be unable to communicate because power or communication remains down.
In a North Carolina county hard hit by Hurricane Helene, more than 1,000 people were first reported as unaccounted for. That number has gone down in the days following the storm.
