ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A woman died after she was hit by an unmarked Maryland State Police (MSP) SUV in Anne Arundel County on Sunday evening.
State police said on Sept. 29, troopers responded to a crash on Solomons Island Road at Route 50 just after 7:30 p.m.
There, they found a 32-year-old woman who had been hit by an unmarked 2016 Ford Explorer.
She died at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a Maryland state trooper was driving the Ford on Solomons Island Road when they hit the woman. State police said she entered the roadway unexpectedly and there was no crosswalk, in the area.
The trooper immediately began providing aid to the woman and requested additional assistance.
The trooper was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation and the woman’s name has not been released, as of Monday morning.
Once the investigation is complete, it will be presented to the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office. MSP will also conduct an independent review, per protocol.
