WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Here are our rankings for the top 25 high school football teams in Washington, D.C., Maryland and northern Virginia. List comprised by the DC News Now sports department. Updated as of Thursday at 5 p.m.
1. Madison (4-0) – Last week: 1
Madison remains at No. 1 for another week after another dominant 35-7 win over George Marshall.
2. Friendship Collegiate (4-0) – Last week: 2
Friendship escapes with a 20-14 win over Dunbar in last week’s game of the week. The Knights’ schedule gets even harder, as they take on St. John’s Saturday.
3. Quince Orchard (3-0) – Last week: 3
Quince Orchard shuts out Stone Bridge 10-0 in a defensive battle.
4. Riverdale Baptist (4-0) – Last week: 4
The Crusaders remain undefeated after a 28-6 win over Bishop McNamara.
5. DeMatha (2-1) – Last week: 5
DeMatha returns from their bye week and pick up a 49-12 win over Roman Catholic.
6. St. John’s (2-1) – Last week: 6
The Cadets enjoy the bye week, remaining at No. 6 in our rankings. They get a chance to move up as they host No. 2 Friendship Collegiate Saturday.
7. Gonzaga (4-0) – Last week: 7
Gonzaga blanks Archbishop Carroll 42-0. They host one of the best teams in Pennsylvania, Malvern Prep, on Friday.
8. Hayfield (3-0) – Last week: 8
The Hawks are off to a historic start, defeating Chantilly 70-0, breaking the program record for most points in a game.
9. Northwest (3-0) – Last week: 9
Northwest picks up a shutout victory over Richard Montgomery to improve to 3-0.
10. Battlefield (4-0) – Last week: 10
Another week of dominance by the Bobcats, as they destroy Woodbridge 42-7.
11. Wise (2-1) – Last week: 12
Wise moves up one spot in our rankings after a 48-0 win over Parkdale.
12. C.H. Flowers (2-1) – Last week: 13
Flowers pick up a blowout victory over Laurel. They host DuVal Friday.
13. Good Counsel (1-3) – Last week: 11
Good Counsel drop their third straight game, this time to St. Joseph’s Prep, one of the best teams in Pennsylvania, 21-19. They travel to take on Stone Bridge Friday.
14. Linganore (3-0) – Last week: 16
Linganore crushes Walkersville 49-21 to improve to 3-0.
15. Dunbar (3-1) – Last week: 14
Dunbar suffers a crushing defeat to No. 2 Friendship Collegiate 20-14 in last week’s game of the week.
16. Middletown (3-0) – Last week: 20
Middletown narrowly defeats Urbana 20-15, but with the win, the Knights climb up to No. 16.
17. Theodore Roosevelt (3-0) – Last week: 21
Roosevelt has scored 112 points in their last two games, and are now 3-0 after shutting out Washington.
18. Washington-Liberty (4-0) – Last week: 18
Washington-Liberty obliterates their cross town rival Yorktown 46-14. The Generals are beginning to look like contenders in the 6D region.
19. John Champe (4-0) – Last week: 23
John Champe’s “air raid” offense strikes again, defeating Potomac Falls 51-6.
20. Westfield (2-1) – Last week: 22
Westfield enjoyed the bye week, moving up two spots in our rankings.
21. Blake (3-0) – Last week: honorable mention
Blake cracks the top 25 for the first time this season after their 37-0 win over Einstein.
22. Lake Braddock (2-2) – Last week: 24
Lake Braddock bounces back after their loss to Westfield, defeating West Potomac 49-28.
23. Blair (3-0) – Last week: honorable mention
Blair enters the top 25 after defeating Kennedy 49-8.
24. Bethesda-Chevy Chase (3-0)
BCC looks legit! The Barons are 3-0 after their 55-0 shut out win over Poolesville.
25. Colonial Forge (4-0) – Last week: unranked
Colonial Forge gets a big win over Patriot 35-27, and with that, crack our top 25 for the first time this season.
