Police released surveillance images Friday afternoon of a Citi Bike rider who attacked a 17-year old cyclist in Central Park after the two collided with each other.
According to police sources, the collision, which occurred on the park’s Center Drive near Wollman Rink around 3 p.m. Wednesday, sparked a heated argument between the pair. The suspect, who was zipping along on an electric-powered Citi Bike, shoved the teenager off his bike, then sprayed him in the face with an unknown chemical substance while the victim was splayed out on the ground, cops said. The youth was later treated at the scene for his injuries.
As the teen was racked with discomfort and pain, his assailant fled the scene, heading north on the park’s East Drive. Cops are seeking the public’s help in identifying and tracking him down.
The suspect is described as thin, with a light complexion and facial hair, and was last spotted wearing a black T-shirt and black pants, with a black backpack.
Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
