CAPITAL HEIGHTS, Md. (DC News Now) – Police are searching for the suspects involved in a deadly shooting in Capital Heights that broke out on Saturday, Sept. 14th.
The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said Anthony Okoye, 41, was fatally shot in the 1200 block of Marblewood Ave. at around 6 a.m.
While police continue searching for the shooter, Okoye’s coworkers at Ameritech, a tire service, are mourning his death.
“I’m sick. Im moving but I’m sick,” Ameritech supervisor, Cyril Acholonu, said.
Acholonu, who has been with the company for years, said Okoye was a friend to him.
“He’s a hard-working man. He likes to work hard,” Acholonu said. “He speaks my language. [I] took him in like a younger brother.”
Ancholonu said he thinks the company needs to have more security when it comes to robberies and crimes that happen near their Ameritech site.
“You got to be careful. your life is more important than the money they’re asking for,” he said.
PGPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
