The FBI received a tip as fare back as 2019 that the alleged, would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump was a felon in possession of a firearm, the federal law enforcement agency confirmed Monday.
Jeffrey Veltri, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Miami Field Office, said during a press conference that the bureau had been tipped off in 2019 about Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, who was arrested Sunday in connection with the attempted assassination of Trump.
