COPS searching for a missing woman from Barnsley have confirmed that they have found a body.
Officers in South Yorkshire had been searching for Claire Driver, 44, for a number of months.
Claire was last seen on June 24 between 2.30pm and 3pm at the junction of Silkstone Lane and Bull Haw Lane in Silkstone.
She had been captured on CCTV and seen in Barnsley and Stainborough in the days before she went missing.
Claire was also seen the day before on High Street, Silkstone, near to the rear of The Bells Steakhouse and on the road near The Pot House Hamlet.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said in July officers were becoming “increasingly concerned” for Claire’s welfare.
They appealed to members of the public who had any information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Rebecca Robinson said at the time: “We know Claire enjoys spending time outdoors, specifically visiting church grounds and historic memorials.
“She has many close friends who are growing increasingly concerned for her.”
On Sunday, the force confirmed a body had been found in its search for Claire.
It posted on X, formerly Twitter: “A body has been found this morning (15 September) in the Silkstone area of Barnsley.
“While formal identification is yet to take place, we do believe it to be missing woman Claire Driver. Her family has been informed.
“Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals.”
