Last night, a photo surfaced on the internet of New Jersey Devils’ defensemen Luke Hughes in an arm sling.
It looked like Hughes was at a Michigan Football game and was in the background of the photo, which caught the eyes of Devils fans.
Today, the Devil’s organization released a statement regarding the photo and the suspected injury for their young blue liner.
“The New Jersey Devils announced today that defenseman Luke Hughes suffered a left shoulder injury earlier this month during off-season training. Upon examination by New Jersey’s medical staff, it was determined that he will not require surgery.
Hughes’ recovery time is approximately six-eight weeks. He is in New Jersey for treatment and physical therapy under the guidance of the Devils’ athlete care staff.”

Hughes will be sidelined for approximately six-eight weeks, which should put his return date closer to the beginning of November.
If that is the case, the Devils will now have an opening on the backend for a player like Johnathan Kovacevic to push for a spot until Hughes returns.
