City officials have announced temporary lane closures on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive between Hollywood and Lawrence avenues from Sunday afternoon through Friday morning.

The closures are part of a project to resurface the road between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood that began in the spring and was restarted Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Chicago Department of Transportation expects to complete roadwork by late October.

Work that began at 3 p.m. Sunday on northbound lanes between Hollywood and Lawrence and closed all entrance and exit ramps will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday. Officials advise drivers to plan and allow extra travel time for the morning and evening commutes. Drivers are also being asked to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage, to obey posted work zone speed limits and to be alert for workers and equipment.

On Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., the northbound and southbound lanes between Hollywood and Lawrence on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to one lane each and all ramps will remain open. After that, all lanes and ramps along that stretch will be closed until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Only the northbound exit ramp and southbound entrance ramp at Lawrence will remain open to detour traffic.
