49ers Rookie Pearsall To Miss At Least First 4 Games After Shot In Chest In Attempted Robbery

Two days after he was shot during a robbery attempt near San Francisco’s Union Square, the San Francisco 49ers placed rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List.

The Monday roster move ensures Pearsall will miss at least the first four games of the season.

Pearsall was shot in the chest on Saturday during a confrontation with an armed suspect on Geary Street near Grant Avenue.

The suspect, who also suffered a gunshot wound during the incident, was taken into custody. Pearsall was released from the hospital on Sunday.

Players are ineligible to return from the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List for at least four games, meaning the earliest Pearsall could make his NFL debut would be for the Niners’ Week 5 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 6.

The team made no promise as to when the wide receiver will actually return to game play.
