MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Montgomery County Fire and Rescue (MCFRS) said firefighters rescued one dog and two parakeets from an apartment fire in Gaithersburg on Saturday after a webcam alerted a resident that a fire was in his apartment.
MCFRS said crews responded to 15 Prism Place shortly before 7 p.m. for an apartment fire on the complex’s ground level.
Once at the scene, crews forced their way into the apartment and located the fire in the kitchen. They extinguished the fire and rescued the three beloved pets from the smoke-filled unit.
According to MCFRS, the resident living in the apartment unit was at work when the webcam alerted him to the fire.
In a post on X, MCFRS said responders kept the rescued dog, “Lady,” and the two parakeets company until the resident returned.
