MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said an electrical fire in Silver Spring temporarily suspended power to several stores and a church on Saturday afternoon.
MCFRS said crews responded just before 2 p.m. to 8549 Piney Branch Road for a building fire.
Once they arrived, responders found and extinguished a fire in an electrical room serving a shopping center and a church.
In an update from the department on X at 4:13 p.m., Pepco had successfully restored power to the shopping center but not to the church. MCFRS identified the church as Iglesia De Christo Familiar Bethania.
As of late afternoon, building management, the church and Pepco were working together to restore power.
