Katie Lee Biegel cooking this summer
Food Network star Katie Lee Biegel, Billy Joe’s ex, has been out and about this summer.
At the end of last month, the dark-eyed chef hosted a wine tasting and shopping party at Unsubscribed’s East Hampton store, with the wine courtesy of her own “Kind of Wild” brand. Twenty percent of sales that day were donated to Hamptons Community Outreach, which helps underserved families on the East End.
Last weekend, Biegel stopped by the newly opened SkinSpirit in Southampton for a Diamond Glow facial and makeup by celebrity makeup artist Quinn Murphy, whose clients include Natalie Portman, Katie Holmes, Dakota Fanning and Uma Thurman.
Another foodie, Giada De Laurentiis, stopped by il Buco Vita to sign copies of Giada’s Italy. Billed as “A Night with Giadzy at il Buco Mare” the evening featured an exclusive Bucatini al Nerano from Giada, alongside specialty il Buco dishes made with Giadzy’s artisan Italian ingredients.
Speaking of Billy Joel, who split with Katie Lee in 2009, his daugther, Alexa Ray Joel, was to be honored at the Second Chance Rescue’s Concert for a Cause on August 9 in East Hampton. Fat Joe was scheduled to perform at the benefit for animal rights.
More on Meghan
Meghan Markle ate at Sartiano’s in East Hampton while she was in town for the G9 Ventures Summer Summit, hosted by power broker Amy Griffin.
Blythe Danner
Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom and multi-award-winning actress Blythe Danner will host Asbury Shorts USA’s 40th Anniversary Short Film Concert — New York City’s longest-running short film exhibition at LTV Studios (East Hampton’s Public Access Television Station) in Wainscott August 15th.
Academy Award–nominated director Jason Reitman (“Juno,” “Up in the Air,”) calls Asbury Shorts USA: “the best short-film show I’ve ever experienced.”
Meanwhile in Southampton, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in,” the quote in The Godfather Part III by Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino) is displayed on the movie theater marquee.
The theater, which has been closed since the pandemic, was bought by Aby Rosen and has been a bit of mystery, with rumors of Rosen turning it into a private club circulating all last summer. Rosen and his son, Charlie, shared their vision for the movie theater with the Southampton Press , giving hope to residents who want a movie theater in their town and want the historic marquee preserved.

The following night, the Southampton Hospital Benefit was held under a tent on Wickapogue Road, co-chaired by Elena A. Ford and Sarah J. Wetenhall, who owns the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. Seen at the gala were Rachel Zoe who held the title of “Fashion Chair” who joined guests such as Fern Mallis, Mayor Bill Manger, Audrey and Martin Gruss and Jamee and Peter Gregory as “American Idol” alum Christiaan Padavan serenaded guests with lounge-style tunes during the cocktail hour and That 70s band played during dinner.
