Next to a photograph of her cute new canine, the soap star wrote: ‘Well Paul, this is for you kidda. We picked up this little angel on Sunday.

‘I’ve spoke to the amazing charity @silverfoxdogrescue and we will be renaming her Lily. May Paul’s dedication to loving and rehoming animals live on forever. [sic]’

It comes after Jodie paid tribute to Paul on Instagram, following his sudden death on Tuesday night.

Alongside a photograph of him, she penned: ‘I just don’t want this to be true. The world needs to be filled with Paul’s. Imagine the laughter, imagine all the animals that would find their forever homes.’

She explained: 'I've got too many animals. I have to get home and see my rescue crow when I get back. I have adopted a crow, she's called Sheryl Crow!'

‘Give Buster a treat from me. Thinking of all his family and friends.’

Paul was known for his comedic wit and alter-ego as Lily Savage, but later in life he hosted family favourite, For The Love Of Dogs, which encapsulated his own passion for animals with raising awareness for the rehoming of rescue dogs.
