Sherri Shepherd made a splash as she arrived at the red carpet premiere of her new Lifetime movie Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story on Wednesday night.

The 59-year-old actress, who suffered a wardrobe mishap in June, flashed her megawatt smile while modeling a strapless beaded and royal blue gown in New York City.

She showed off her slim figure in the body-hugging number, which boasted floor-grazing tassels, after dropping 50lbs in 2021.

Her eye-popping ensemble was rounded out with a pair of pointed-toe blue heels.

The star even coordinated her makeup with the look, using blue-toned liner around her eyes.

Shepherd’s new film sees her portray Genelle Guzman-McMillan, the final living survivor rescued from the World Trade Center amid the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Shepherd for comment.

Five years ago, the media personality spoke about her eight-month weight loss journey in an Instagram post.

The former View host showed off her significant weight loss and said finding ‘peace’ helped her shed extra weight.

She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007, which she said ‘changed her life,’ but it wasn’t until 2018 that she began taking her health more seriously.

It followed two custody battles over her two kids, sons Jeffrey, 21, and Lamar, 12.

Shepherd wrote in a caption: ‘Started this weight loss journey 8 mos ago, but making other changes in my life helped me lose even more lbs.’

She then detailed self-improvement hacks, including removing negativity from her life.

The multihyphenate said she was ‘getting consistent sleep,’ meditating and ‘finding a great therapist’ to help her unpack emotional pain and forgive people who had harmed her.

She also credited her transformation to drinking more water and walking, before declaring: ‘Peace makes the weight fall off.’

Speaking about the subject of her new Lifetime movie, which comes out on September 12, Shepherd told Hello Beautiful: ‘[Genelle] was buried alive for 27 hours, buried under 13 feet of concrete.

‘The film is about how she found God.’

She added: ‘It was truly an honor bringing to life Genelle Guzman-McMillan’s journey of being buried alive for 27 hours to finding her purpose and an unshakeable faith.’

Earlier this year, the comedian’s talk show was canceled after four seasons.

Co-presidents of Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury sector, Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, released a statement at the time, saying: ‘This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd.’ they said in part, per Variety.

It was added: ‘We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.’

Sherri launched in fall 2022, replacing the time slot originally held by Wendy Williams’s show, which aired for 13 seasons.
